Blog Assignment #2

The post "Google Earth’s Street View: Public Boon or Privacy Invasion?" by Karl Stephan talks about of the issues that Google's street view has brought to our society. Many people are worried about their privacy because they might think that "someone [...] use[s] that information for inimical purposes" (Stephan, 2012). There is a problem because now most of the people have a computer or a smartphone and fortunately many of those  haven't discovered how to use that information. On the other side of the coin, "what Google Earth is trying to do appears to be more benign" (Stephan, 2012) because there are may advantage of those information. for example, if you are going to somewhere in the city, you just check how it the street and the place you are going looks so in that way you don't get lost. Also Google removes the face of people in those photos and/or removing them. So we just have to wait until something happen like every other technology if they succeed or not.
Stephan doesn't feel bothered with Google Earth’s photo cars and because he also says that if he would see one of those cars, he will go to talk to them about the camera's technical details. Reading this post was fun and amazing because I have never thought about it so it made me thought deeply about the effects, the good and bad. Also I'm a big fan of Google Earth's Street View because that's how I don't get lost in New York City. I agree with Stephan's argument that Google has been trying to give us a very helpful tool but also reading this article made me thought that out there, many people would like to use that information a wrong way and we can ask for privacy. I think that the author writes in a blog because on internet you can have many people to see those blogs and those blogs are voices that want to be heard. The blog in general is marvelous because I didn't just read this article but others with interesting things and information about engineerings and I will keep reading it and find more blogs to read because technology is evolving every day and we have to update to the new things that come so we can get knowledge and use it in our professional career.

Welcome

My name is Christian Campo and I’m from Colombia. I came to this country two years to look for new opportunities and expanding my mind to new knowledge, so I want to seize the opportunities God gives me everyday to keep going. I think I am funny, kind, happy, good friend, understanding and some bad things that I won’t mention. I like to meet people but sometimes I am reserved about myself. Anyways I like to share time with friends and I like to laugh a lot, I would like to do activities and sports like tennis and go to the movies.

I am interested in and engineering career like electrical engineering because the use of electrical and electronics technology to solve real world problems fascinates me. I want acquire knowledge and put it into practice in my daily life, so what I like in this field is the application of knowledge of sciences such as physics and Mathematics. Choosing this career was not easy because I also like architecture and various careers in relation to arts, many relatives have talent for creativity, and I am one of them. One of my inspirations is my cousin who works as an electronic engineer with a group, they invented a device to help babies when they ran out of oxygen, so I want to apply my creativity to create different electrical systems that could be used to help people in our daily lives. Maybe many people in the US go for engineerings because they want to get money but I don't think about the money, I want this because it's fun for me, for example some people don;t like math but in my case I love and enjoy it.

English is my second language and I love reading more in english than Spanish. When I was in my country I read at least a book per year because I had to in school. I didn't like to read, I preferred watching a movie instead of reading the book of that. When I came here and started learning English and reading books, it wasn't easy but I took the challenge to finish a book and understand what was written. So I came to the point to appreciate and love a book, Now I'm impressed because is the third month of the year and I read five books because I want. I like to read fantasy, novels, and articles like those from the National Geographic Magazine. Writing is something that I love too, both in English and Spanish. I actually have a journal, sometimes I write on it everyday or once in  a week and it's something that I like because it helps me to write thoughts and then analyze everything to get an answer for a problem, like something personal or whatever.

Thanks for having a time to read about me and God bless you.
